What is Chronic Fatigue Syndrome?
Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) is a disorder described by severe fatigue or tiredness that doesn’t disappear with rest and can’t be explained by a fundamental medical condition. CFS can also be identified as myalgic encephalomyelitis (ME) or systemic exertion intolerance disease (SEID).
It’s also commonly referred to as Adrenal Fatigue.
The causes of CFS aren’t fully understood yet. Some theories include viral infection, psychological stress, hormone imbalances, weakened immune system, or a combination of factors. Also, according to the CDC, it’s important to know that most chronic diseases exhibit the symptoms of chronic fatigue and exertion intolerance as part of their advanced symptoms, which makes this topic universal for everyone to explore.
Because no single cause has been determined, and because many other conditions produce the same symptoms, CFS can be difficult to diagnose or even test for.
Many people are told their labs are “normal,” yet still experience these chronic fatigue symptoms:
- Brain fog
- Low stamina
- Poor recovery
- Sleep disturbances
- Muscle weakness
- Feeling drained by everyday activities
Our program focuses on helping you better understand and support the physiological systems that may be contributing to those patterns.
